Romsey 2010

As we realised when we were boaters, our friend Mike Hecken is one the great undiscovered tourist guides - mind you he ought to be knowledgeable about the church at Nether Wallop (above) because he used to live in the idyllic little village - the top picture of him outside the Methodist chapel he converted was taken with my new semi-fisheye lens which explains any slight distortions.

Below, he points Liz towards the sea off Hengistbury Head. She seems a trifle uncertain.

Above, waiting for the ferry at Mudeford and, below, leaving the old fishing village behind en route to Hengistbury Head.

Above, a great discovery on the Head - in the 1800s an industrious member of the Holloway clan mined the area!   Below, Mike Hecken, riding on the wooden railway taking us back to the ferry, can still look happy after a busy couple of days hosting some present-day Holloways.
