Sienna's page
When our first grandchild was born in November 2005, a girl called Sienna, we received this email from our son Jonathan and his partner Jenny, who is half Spanish and half Swedish:

"Hola a todos!   Sienna nació el 18 de Noviembre a las 14.14h, pesando 3.4kg y midiendo 53cm. El parto fue natural, en casa, con la ayuda de acupuntura. Estamos los tres muy bien y muy pero que muy contentos! Un beso fuerte.  J & J & Sienna
"Hello to all!  Sienna was born on November 18th at 2.14 pm, weighing seven pounds eight ounces and measuring 53 cm.  The birth was natural, at home, with acupuncture for pain relief. We’re all very well and very very happy!"
Below are the more recent photographs of Sienna, her delighted parents, grandparents and family. More will be added as they arrive and earlier pictures transferred to Sienna's Archive.

The latest!   Someone's

There should be fish in here .... Jenny is sure of it.

Sienna and Sister (continued)
A visit to Norwich, March 2008
Sienna is still talkative. She is not much more distinct over the phone but in person she is incredibly articulate, speaks to her mum Jenny in a mixture of three different languages - English, Spanish and Swedish - but restricts herself to just the one when she chats with monoglots like me. Boasting aside, her vocabulary is already large and she learns quickly. After a joking comment to Jenny when I said her daughter was "quite incredible" I turned to Sienna and asked "Who's incredible?" She replied without hesitation "Me."
Camille is much quieter. At five months, she doesn't talk of course, but she doesn't even cry very much. She seems a very contented baby who watches and smiles whenever you get close to her. The photographs below will give some idea of a very enjoyable weekend spent in Norwich.

Jenny gets a rare chance to relax with her
normally time-demanding daughters

Grandparents found moments of stillness, too!

And finally, the many mobile moods of Sienna
(is she destined to follow Dad into the theatre and the Arts?)

Thank you, thank you - your applause is very welcome ...

Sienna and Sister

Sienna has become more and more talkative over the telephone recently but much of what she says has remained indistinct - not a problem because it was lovely just to hear her voice. But a few days ago I clearly heard a complete sentence, short but to the point: "I've got a sister!"
Below are some of the first photographs of Camille, with her mum, with mum and dad, and. of course, with big sister Sienna.

One our first glimpses of Camille, born October 13, 2007

Mother and daughter - for me, this is the loveliest of them all.

Though these of mother and daughters (above and below) run a close second.

Dad gets a look in with Camille and Jenny . . .

. . . and then with Sienna as well.

A couple of pix to prove than anything Camille can do ...

... Sienna can do just as well

First comes a little amused awe

Then benign acceptance - at least from elder sister

Then this - my favourite photograph of the two sisters - so far!

And finally, another look at Camille looking more relaxed
at her naming day on Sunday November 26 2007

A birthday card to treasure

This is my card from Jonathan, Jenny and Sienna. After her third visit to Snecklifter, Sienna now has her own "narrowboat" complete with models of Liz, me, Molly and Bess.  The baby is Sienna herself. Abuelo is Spanish for grandfather.

Some of the pix I missed over the last three months

Sienna joins Dad in a paella - her tastes in food are strongly Mediterranean

Then it's off for a car ride with Mallorcan cousins Sofia and Alvar

Back in England at Berkhamsted and time to enjoy . . .
. . . the early morning view through the hatch
Before a couple of hours in the local park . . .
. . . playing on the swings and roundabouts

And finally a stroll along the towpath above Napton bottom lock - with Mum doing most of the strolling !

The latest batch (long overdue) - May 2007

Two happy images of Sienna - food is always a winner.
And (right) this track is more like it!

Though a little goes a long way ...

There are serious moments in an 18-months-old's life as well. Just what
are those lips trying to tell us ?

Mike's weekend in Norwich - February 2007

Two images of my weekend - mum and daughter, the latter not pleased at
standing out in the drizzle - but very intent watching a video of the family
Christmas in Mallorca.

+ A contrast across generations ...

A day trip to Southwold, near Aldeburgh
(January 2007)

Jennie and Sienna clearly showing pleasure in their own, distinctive ways ....

While Jonathan looks surprisingly bemused

Sienna goes to sea ... proving she's
a better sailor than me?

The lovely set of pictures above were taken during a sea trip off the coast of Mallorca. The ubiquitous mosquito bites can be seen on Sienna's face and hand.

And she's clearly a better swimmer
(taking lessons with mum at Inca)
