Well Met on the Cut
 
Over the first four years we have made many new friends, living on the canals or near them.  
Below are a few of those we were able to photograph.

practical and reassuring

George and Kate Harper of Lady Kate - delighted at the 
thought of spending part of the winter with us at 
Barton Turns marina?  -  September 22
William and Pam Pughe at Tixall Wide look justifiably  
pleased with their repainted Chickasaw, complete  
with Indian warrior's head - September 22
More accurately the reappearance of old friends - Mike  
and Sue Richardson with us again at Tixall Wide

Ronnie Slater of The Robert Mylne - a good friend to us when 
we found ourselves low on battery power at Huddlesford

Tony and Jenny Miller of Jenny Rose who were names on  
emails until four months ago but have become firm 
friends during our stay at Barton Turns

Mike Hecken at Cropredy with his lovely garden in the  
background.  (At least he said it was his every time  
he looked out of his side hatch)

Ken and Liz Towell of Weasel with cat Fluffy.  We first  
met them on the Macc and have spent several happy  
hours with them in the Anchor Inn on the Shroppie.

Bonnie and Mike Goldberg on Californian - helpful hands  
at Wolseley Bridge on the Trent and Mersey.

Jenn and Jim Thornell of dire straits who we met first at 
Tixall and then again at Hopwas

Lorna Anderson with Lynda Summerell who gave her boat the  
evocative name Wi'Mopson (see Archive for explanation)

Bryn Jones of Driftwood 75 - one of the first Heron 
customers we met nearly three years ago.  Spotted

We met David Cox on Life's Dream - another Heron boat 
- at Barton Turns marina in 2002,and here he was at  
Bugsworth Basin when we arrived on July 24, 2005
The happy Graingers on Caitlin Jayne are Lisa,  
Kimberley, Caitlin and Dave

Frank and Margaret Johnson of Dame with terrier Rosie.

Bill and Michelle Johnson on the aqueduct near Congleton.   
They have been emailing us from North Carolina for over  
three years. At last we meet  - September 13 2005

Jack and Anne Day setting off at Lyme Green on the  
Macclesfield canal. The name Jalizcazane comes from 
a conflation of family names - April 26 2006
For a few days Margaret and Paul Jacobs of Grace Evelyn  
No 2 shared a pontoon with us at Upton on Severn 
June 11 2006
Good neighbours at Braunston, Arthur and Pam Sharpe of  
Blue Angel with an "adopted" Bess. Long-term permit  
moorers, they welcomed us from the start - July 8 2006
 
Time for a chat and a cuppa with Roger and Maureen Yorke 
of Ramyshome after several waved hellos as we  
passed on various canals.

Unexpected but welcome visitors - Elizabeth and John Bolton,  
over from New Zealand to live on their boat Helen Louise
